SEO is the best source of traffic for businesses

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of creating content and optimizing your website so that it ranks highly in search results.

We know that the first results in Google receives about 35% of all traffic, so if you're not on the first page, you're nowhere.

SEO strategies for businesses

Coming up with a strategy really does depend on your business. First of all, the industry you're in and who your buyers are will guide the strategy. Ultimately, understanding who your audience is will be the biggest factor in success.

We all know that people research online before buying almost anything, so make sure that you are capturing those searches. It's one thing to try to rank for the obvious "product for sale" high intent keywords, but most companies can really excel with "long tail".

Long tail SEO

Long tail SEO is the strategy of pursuing the searches that don't make up the bulk of the volume, but by capturing more of them you'll be able to drive big results. The competition on a keyword with 10,000 or more searches a month is huge, but there's probably a search that buyers frequently conduct prior to buying that only has hundreds or a couple thousand searches a month, that you can rank for easily. As a result, pursuing a few of these keywords can give you more immediate and meaningful results than going after your "white whale" keyword.

How to get the 1st position on Google

The billion dollar question. Position 1 (P1) depends on a variety of factors, from how many backlinks you have and from where, to how well your website itself is optimized. Anyone who blanket promises you P1 is most likely a scammer so use caution and common sense when evaluating SEO agencies and providers. We can conduct some research on your keyword and give you an idea of if it's possible to rank in the top 3 for it, or perhaps it's wiser to pursue some long tail keywords first.

On-page or off-page SEO

On-page SEO is the practice of ensuring that your website is set up and configured ideally for how search engines like Google evaluate websites. That includes things like:

  • Optimizing keyword density (the days of repeating a keyword over-and-over on a page to rank well are long gone).
  • Ensuring content is relevant and of an appropriate length.
  • Strong internal linking within appropriate pages on your website.
  • Good user experience (UX) and page performance.

Off-page SEO is where you get into some slightly shadier tactics. It's important to avoid the spammy tactics of automated link building strategies used in the past. Google has gotten even smarter and will penalize your website by removing it from the index. You really don't want that. Keep your link building strategy organic and rely on high quality content from your content strategy to drive links to your website.
